Pitchfork Music Festival Preview – Ms. Lauryn Hill is Coming!

Spread the love

The 13th Annual Pitchfork Music Festival takes place Friday, July 20 through Sunday, July 22 at Chicago’s Union Park.

Pitchfork Music Fest is always great.  There is no B.S. with Pitchfork, it’s a summer festival that is free of gimmicks and is about one thing:  the music.  Nothing else.  There are many, many great artists on this year’s bill, but all the talk is about one:  Ms. Lauryn Hill.

Hill is back to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

Hill’s 1998 album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was massively successful, winning a record-breaking five Grammy awards, selling millions of copies and making the 23-year-old solo artist a legend.  Unfortunately, the album remains her only full-length release to date.  Her self-imposed exile baffled many of her fans.  As Kanye West sums up in his song Champion, “Lauryn Hill said her heart was in Zion / I wish her heart still was in rhymin’.”

But luckily for those baffled fans, Hill is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the album with a world tour, on which she will perform The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in full and Pitchfork Music Fest is one of the stops.  On Sunday July 22, Chicago will get to witness the legend perform her most important work of art.

Pitchfork festival goers are in for a treat with that performance alone, but of course there are many other acts that will perform over the three days in Union Park.  Committed to striking a balance between discovery and celebration through a diverse, unexpected lineup, the Pitchfork Music Festival continues to be one of the most exciting weekends in music.
