Recently Crosscreek Entertainment presented the launch of “The Awakening Sea,” a thrilling science adventure book series with a strong ocean conservation message, by coming-of-age author Rowena Patterson at a private estate in Malibu.
Hosted by Gabrielle Reece, the evening featured specialtyBeach Whiskey Co. cocktails and light bites. For every book sale, $1 will be donated to benefit the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, a non-profit marine preservation organization.
Gabrielle Reece attended the sunset event with her two beautiful daughters, Reece and Brody Hamilton. The event’s host and her professional big-wave surfer husband, Laird Hamilton, are longtime Malibu residents and environmental activists. Another ocean supporter in attendance, Ross McCall, has long advocated with the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and caught up with two friends, female ship captains that are leading efforts to reduce maritime wildlife extinction.
Though the evening was centered on bringing attention to a serious global issue, there was celebration to be had for “The Awakening Sea” series debut that aims to spark a new generation of ocean supporters. Guests including Annalynne McCord, a charitable force in the Hollywood community, Briana Evigan of “From Dusk Till Dawn” and “Sharknado” star Cassie Scerbo enjoyed the evening with pals and snapped pictures in the photobooth with a few stuffed sea animal friends.
Heartfelt speeches from Patterson and Sea Shepherd Conservation Chief Operating Officer David Hance were delivered to the tune of soft waves crashing upon the beach on the mid-summer evening.
